This was a key element of the security operation at Madison Square Garden: anyone identified on a so-called enemies list would have an open-source dossier compiled about them. Their social media activity would be scraped, and various databases could be used to perform background checks—including criminal records, property records, and what they’ve said in the media. This process was referred to as a “workup.”
