Fabio Di Giannantonio topped the timesheets in the first free practice session of the MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez, the iconic cathedral of international motorcycling. The Italian rider, currently fourth in the world championship standings, showcased the strong form of his Aprilia machine after switching tires and set the fastest lap.
Di Giannantonio, aged 27, finished ahead of fellow countryman Franco Morbidelli. The third-fastest time went to Álex Márquez, who won the Grand Prix in the previous season and started the weekend at a high level, posting competitive lap times early on.
Bezzecchi took fourth place, while Marc Márquez was fifth. The only negative moment for Spanish motorcycling came from Jorge Martín, who crashed in the final corner while practicing his start on the grid. Marco Bezzecchi leads the championship with 81 points, followed by Jorge Martín with 77 and Pedro Acosta with 60.
