The Los Angeles Dodgers dropped their fourth straight game, falling 6-2 to the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium.
Los Angeles managed only four hits against Giants starter Adrian Houser, a pitcher they had historically punished. Before this outing, Houser carried a 12.34 ERA against the Dodgers over 11.2 innings, allowing 17 hits, 16 earned runs, one home run, and eight walks with an 0-3 record. This time, he limited them to three hits, three walks, and two earned runs while striking out four.
Shohei Ohtani provided a bright spot by hitting his first home run since April 27, snapping a prolonged slump. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a walk, and a strikeout. The Dodgers plan to give Ohtani off on Wednesday and Thursday, hoping the break helps him rediscover his rhythm at the plate.
Outside of Ohtani, only Freddie Freeman and Tucker contributed hits, each collecting one single along with three walks combined. The Dodgers went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.
The pitching staff couldn’t compensate for the offensive struggles. Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed three solo home runs, needing to be nearly perfect on a day when the lineup was cold. While his overall performance showed improvement, the long balls proved costly. Blake Treinen relieved Yamamoto with runners on first and third and one out, then gave up two hits that expanded the Giants’ lead.
Los Angeles loaded the bases with one out in the eighth inning but failed to capitalize, a recurring issue this season.
The Dodgers will face the Giants again on Wednesday, with Ohtani scheduled to start on the mound. Dalton Rushing will replace him in the lineup, aiming to spark the offense.
